ORDER

Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents.

2.The petitioner had earlier filed W.P.(MD)No.9981 of 2020 before this Court seeking police escort and police protection. The said writ petition was disposed of as follows:- "4.Today when the petitioner is came up for hearing, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent police on instructions, would submit that upon the receipt of the complaints, dated 20.05.2019 and 20.08.2020 given by the petitioner, an enquiry has been initiated in Current Paper No.17/Registered Post/Inspector/B6/2020 and the same is pending on the file of the fourth respondent police. Further, if necessary, the fourth respondent police is ready to give necessary police protection to the petitioner and his 1/4

family members.

5.Hence, recording the submissions made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, this writ petition is disposed of."

3.The petitioner's counsel alleges that even though such a categorical order was passed, the local police asked the petitioner to vacate the premises and go to Tirunelveli. The petitioner is now said to be in Tirunelveli. Hence, this criminal original petition has been filed seeking grant of police protection. 4.When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor categorically stated that the petitioner's complaint was enquired into and closed. The fourth respondent is present before this Court through video conferencing and the fourth respondent categorically informed the Court that the petitioner is not having any threat anymore and that, he can very well return to his residence. They further stated that they will definitely keep a watch over the area and ensure that the petitioner does not suffer any harm.

5.Recording the said submission of the learned counsel for the fourth respondent, in person, before this Court, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
