ORDER

This criminal original petition has been filed seeking direction to the Additional District Judge/Presiding Officer, Special Court Under Essential Commodities Act, Thanjavur to expedite speedy trial and to dispose the case in C.C.No.93 of 2022 within the time stipulated by this Court.

2.The petitioner is facing trial before the trial Court in C.C.No.93 of 2022 for the offence punishable under Section 8(c) r/w 20(b) (ii)(C), 25 and 29(1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act, 1985, in Crime No.36 of 2022 on the file of the respondent police. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner was arrested and remanded into judicial custody on 01.02.2022. Till now he is in custody. Therefore, he seeks speedy disposal of the case. 3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor would submit that so far two witnesses has been examined. LW3 to LW5 are going to be examined today before the trial Court. The respondent police is ready to co-operate to complete the trial process within a period of four months. 2/5

4.In view of the undertaking given by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor and considering the period of incarceration, there shall be a direction to the learned Additional District Judge/Presiding Officer, Special Court Under Essential Commodities Act, Thanjavur, to expedite speedy trial process in C.C.No.93 of 2022 pending on his file and dispose of the same within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5.With the above said directions, this criminal original petition is disposed of.
