Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the second respondent to grant permission and protection for cultural event namely Adalpadal scheduled to be held on 25.02.2017 at night in connection with the "Pongal Festival" in Arulmigu Sri Mariamman, Muniyasamy Kovil, at Vadakkampatti Village, Thirumangalam Taluk, Madurai District by considering the petitioner's representation dated 12.01.2017. For Petitioner : Mr.V.Ramalingam For Respondents : Mr.M.Govindan, Special Government Pleader.

[Order of the Court was made by A.SELVAM, J.] This writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to direct the respondents to give necessary permission for conducting Adalpadal scheduled to be held on 25.02.2017 in the place mentioned in the petition, by way of issuing a writ of mandamus.
2.Mr.M.Govindan, learned Special Government Pleader, has taken notice for the respondents.
3.It is seen from the records that on 12.01.2017, a representation has been given to the respondents, but the same has not been considered. Under the said circumstances, the present writ petition has been filed.

4.Considering the aforesaid factual circumstances, the following order can be passed.
5.In fine, this writ petition is allowed in part without costs and the second respondent viz., Inspector of Police, Kallikudi Police Station, Madurai District is directed to look into the representation dated 12.01.2017 and dispose of the same within a period of two days.
