By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
2. The petitioner has come to this Court for a direction to the first respondent Appellate Authority and Chairman Governing Council, Irrigation Management Training Institute, Public Works Department, Chennai to pass appropriate orders on the pending appeal preferred by the petitioner against the order dated 17.08.2016 imposing punishment of compulsory retirement against the petitioner.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader, who takes notice for the respondents.
4. The learned Additional Government Pleader, on instructions, sought for sufficient time to pass orders on the pending appeal.
5. In view of the above, considering the limited prayer made by the petitioner, without going into the merits of the matter, the first respondent is directed to dispose of the appeal preferred by the petitioner, within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
