O R D E R

The petitioner has come forward with this Writ Petition for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus seeking a direction to the respondents to give police permission and adequate police protection to the Nathasvaramelam, Karakattam followed by Vanavedikai fest from 15.08.2017 at about 09.00 am to 16.08.2017 at about 04.00 a.m. at Arulmigu Sri Ulaga Mutharamman Temple in Kalvai Village, Srivaikundam, Thoothukudi District.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

narrated in the affidavit filed in support of this petition, this Court is inclined to pass the following direction: "The second respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 01.08.2017 and to grant permission and to give police protection to the Nathasvaramelam, Karakattam followed by Vanavedikai festival in connection with the temple festival to be conducted from 15.08.2017 to 16.08.2017 considering the custom and practice that prevail in the petitioner's temple for a long number of years, forthwith, subject to any reasonable restrictions / conditions in order to maintain law and order and communal harmony."

4.With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
