: Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, calling for the records in connection with the letter issued by the second respondent in C.No.R2/150/2017 dated 29.07.2017 and quash the same as illegal and consequently direct the respondents to permit the petitioner to participate in the next level selection process such as further chest measurement, 1500 meter running, rope climbing etc., in pursuant of TNUSRB combined recruitment for Grade-II Police Constables / Grade-II Warders / Firemen (Men & Women) 2017, if the petitioner is found eligible in height measurement during remeasurement. 2.The petitioner, having passed S.S.L.C, applied for the post of Grade -II Police Constables / Grad-II Jail Warders / Fireman - 2017, when applications were called for by the respondent Police Department. Subsequently, after passing the written examination, the petitioner was called for for the Physical Endurance Test. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
3.Now, the grievance of the petitioner appears to be that the respondents have disqualified the petitioner by holding that his height is below the requisite measurement for being qualified. 4.In view thereof, when the matter was earlier listed before this Court, this Court directed the respondents to produce the video recordings taken at the time of measurement.
5.As per the said direction, the learned Additional Advocate General appearing for the respondent Police Department produced the video recordings and the same was played before me in the presence of the learned counsel on either side and also the petitioner. 6.The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner was initially declared as qualified in the height measurement. However, in the random check conducted by the Inspector General of Police, the petitioner was declared running shortage of 0.6 c.m. and was found disqualified. 7.A perusal of the video recordings would clearly show that when the petitioner's height was measured in the presence of the Inspector General of Police, his height was found to be 169.4 c.m., which is less than the actual height for being qualified. Hence, the petitioner is rightly found disqualified by the respondent Department.
