Heard Mr. T. Lajapathi Roy, learned Senior Counsel for the petitioner, and Mr. D. Sadiq Raja, learned Additional Government Pleader, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondents. 2.The petitioner is before this Court seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the first respondent to dispose of the statutory appeal preferred by the petitioner under Rule 17 of the Tamil Nadu Regularisation of Unapproved Layouts and Plots Rules, 2017, dated 08.04.2026.

3.In the said appeal, the petitioner has challenged the order passed by the second respondent, whereby the petitioner's request for regularisation of the unapproved layout was rejected. The grievance of 2/6

the petitioner is that, though the appeal was filed on 08.04.2026, the appellate authority has not taken any steps to consider the same. 4.Mr. D. Sadiq Raja, learned Additional Government Pleader, on instructions, submitted that the appellate authority has already issued notice to the petitioner calling upon him to produce certain documents and that, upon production of those documents, the appeal would be disposed of in accordance with law. The said submission is taken on record.

5.In view of the above, the writ petition stands disposed of with a direction to the first respondent to consider the appeal filed by the petitioner dated 08.04.2026 on its own merits and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, after issuing notice to the petitioner.

6. The aforesaid exercise shall be completed within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 3/6

7.There shall be no order as to costs.
