ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 to 3 herein to pay a sum of Rs.15,00,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Lakhs only) towards compensation for the death of petitioner's wife namely, Jansirani, who died due to electrocution.

2. The learned Counsel appearing for the respondents 1, 3 and 4 submitted that they are not responsible for the electrocution, as it occurred due to a snapped electric wire caused by heavy winds. The wire fell on the tree and in turn, it fell on the petitioner's wife and she was electrocuted on the spot.

3. The respondents had issued Board proceedings dated 21.12.2024 in (Per.) (FB) TNPDCL Proceedings No.11, wherein the amount is payable under "no fault liability". The said Board proceedings have the amount of 2/4

Rs.10,00,000/- for payment of compensation under the applicable scheme.

4. Therefore, the petitioner is entitled to the said compensation. The respondents shall pay the same within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above said direction, this Writ Petition is allowed. No costs. 17.06.2025 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No Internet : Yes jbr To:
