ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondent to transfer / shift the electricity connection of the petitioner's house (S.C.No.07070006544) from the existing electric pole to new electric pole, located within the 100 meters of the main Tar Road situated in front of his house.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is residing at Radhapuram Taluk, Tirunelveli District. The respondent provided electricity connection to the petitioner's house through some garden land. During rainy season, the branches of the coconut trees fall on the electric wire, thereby, the power supply is often disrupted. Hence, the petitioner has made a representation to the respondent on 20.01.2025, seeking to shift the electricity connection from existing electric pole to new electric pole located within 100 meters of the main Tar Road situated in front of his house. Since the same was not considered till date, the petitioner has filed this Writ Petition.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel for the respondent.

4. Considering the limited scope of the prayer sought for by the petitioner, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the claim made by the petitioner either in the representation or in the affidavit filed in support of this Writ Petition, this Court directs the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 20.01.2025, after giving sufficient opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The petitioner is also directed to submit an online application along with necessary fees. If such an application is filed, the same may be considered within a period of two (2) weeks from the date of receipt of the application.

5. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
