PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the 2nd and 5th respondents to take necessary action and to provide adequate police protection for the peaceful conduct of Sri Vinayakar, Sri Bhagavathi Amman, Sri Mariaman, Sri Muthalamman, Sri Kaliamman Urchava Vizha scheduled to be conducted from 24.05.2026 to 28.05.2026 at P.Kosavapatti, Padiyur, Vedasanthur Taluk, Dindigul District based on the representation made by the petitioner dated 17.04.2026.

ORDER

Seeking to direct the respondents 2 and five to take necessary action and to provide adequate police protection for the peaceful conduct of Sri Vinayakar, Sri Bhagavathi Amman, Sri Mariaman, Sri Muthalamman, Sri Kaliamman Urchava Vizha scheduled to be conducted from 24.05.2026 to 28.05.2026 at P.Kosavapatti, Padiyur, Vedasanthur Taluk, Dindigul District based on the representation made by the petitioner dated 17.04.2026, this writ petition is filed.

2. Considering the limited scope of the relief sought for, notice to the private respondents is dispensed with.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the 6th and 7th respondents are restraining the petitioner's family and relatives from participating in the temple festival mentioned supra. In this regard, he sought for the indulgence of the 5th respondent police to afford necessary police protection for the peaceful participation of the petitioner and group.

4. Heard the learned counsel on either side and carefully perused the materials available on record.

5. The 3rd respondent is directed to conduct a peace committee on 06.05.2026. It is made clear that the 3rd respondent will put the petitioner as well as 6th and 7th respondents on notice and also all necessary parties related to the said temple. The petitioner is permitted to appear before the 3rd respondent and ventilate his plight. After giving opportunity of hearing to the rival parties, the 3rd respondent is directed to facilitate the conduct of the temple festival and make sure that none of the persons, including the petitioner and his relatives 3/6

being prevented from participating in the said temple festival. On obtaining such a resolution, the 5th respondent police is directed to afford necessary police protection for the proper conduct of the temple festival.

6. With the above directions, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
