Respondent PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to grant permission to install Lord Vinayaga Idol on 25.08.2017 in the premises of Mariamman Temple in Ventrilingampuram, Pattadaikatti Panchayat, Naduvakuruchi, Sankarankoil Taluk, Tirunelveli District and the procession to be held on 27.08.2017 in the eve of Vinayagar Chathurthi festival.

*********** [Order of the Court was made by G.R.SWAMINATHAN, J.] The petitioner filed this Writ Petition to direct the respondent to grant permission to install Lord Vinayaga Idol and conduct procession on 27.08.2017.

2. The petitioner gave a representation on 10.08.2017 to the respondent and the same has not been disposed of. Hence, this writ petition has been filed.

3. There is no serious objection from the respondent.

4. We, therefore, direct the respondent to grant permission to install Lord Vinayaga Idol and conduct procession on 27.08.2017, as sought for by the petitioner. It is open to the respondent to impose any other reasonable conditions, for ensuring smooth and peaceful conduct of the said festival.

5. The Writ Petition is allowed, as indicated above. No costs.
