PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to grant permission and protection for conducting the double bullock cart race to be held on 10.05.2025 at Alagitchipatti village to Mathagupatti Road, Melur Taluk Madurai District between 6.00 a.m to 9.00 a.m in connection with the Chithirai Festival in Shri Manthai Karuppanasamy Koil, Alagitchipatti village, Uranganpatti Panchayat, Alagitchipatti post, Melur Taluk, Madurai District by considering the petitioner's representation dated.28.04.2025. O R D E R

[Order of the Court was made by M.DHANDAPANI, J.] This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a Writ of Mandamus to grant permission and protection for conducting the double bullock cart race to be held on 10.05.2025 at Alagitchipatti village to Mathagupatti Road, Melur Taluk Madurai District between 6.00 a.m to 9.00 a.m in connection with the Chithirai Festival in Shri Manthai Karuppanasamy

Koil, Alagitchipatti village, Uranganpatti Panchayat, Alagitchipatti post, Melur Taluk, Madurai District by considering the petitioner's representation dated.28.04.2025.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is residing at Alagitchipatti Village and the entire people of the said Village are proposed to conduct the double bullock cart race on 10.05.2025 as a prt of Chithirai Festival of Shri Manthai Kaurppanasamy Koil. Hence, the petitioner has made a representation on 28.04.2025, seeking permission and protection for conducting the double bullock cart race. Since the same was not considered till date, the petitioner has filed this Writ Petition.

3. Heard the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the first respondent and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents 2 to 4.

4. Considering the limited scope of the prayer sought for by the petitioner, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the claim made

by the petitioner either in the representation or in the affidavit filed in support of this Writ Petition, we direct the respondent concerned to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 28.04.2025, after giving sufficient opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law on or before 10.05.2025.

5. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
