: Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent to issue Hindu-Kattunayakkan Scheduled Tribe(ST) Community certificate to petitioner's son namely K.Maheswaran on the basis of the representation dated 24.07.2017 within a period that may be stipulated by this Court.

2.Claiming to be one belonging to Scheduled Tribe (Kattunayakkan). The petitioner made a representation to the first respondent on 24.07.2017 enclosing the relevant document seeking to expedite the adjudication, the present writ petition has been filed.

3.The learned Government Advocate would submit that 12 weeks is required since the first respondent has constituted the committee for the aforesaid purpose.

4. We are of the view that 12 weeks is too longer period for consideration, the committee has already been constituted, though it has to start functioning. In such view of the matter, a direction is issued to the first respondent to dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 24.07.2017 on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5.With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
