ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, seeking for a direction to the respondents to promote the petitioner to the post of Telephone Clerk from the post of Telephone Attender, on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 12.04.2018 within the time stipulated by this Court.

2.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner was originally appointed as Night Watchman under the third respondent and he was subsequently promoted as Telephone Attender on 20.09.1993 and he also satisfied the eligibility criteria for being considered for the promotion to the post of Telephone Clerk. Though he has been working as Telephone Attender from the year 1993, he is not promoted to the post of Telephone Clerk, despite having all the necessary qualifications. Hence, this petition. 2/6

3.The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents submitted that the petitioner's prayer is only to consider his representation dated 12.04.2018 and pass orders on merits.

4.Heard Mr.C.Jeganathan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.R.Ragavendran, learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents. 5.Considering the fact that the petitioner has been working as Telephone Attender from the year 1993 and he claims to have all the necessary qualifications for being considered for the promoted post of Telephone Clerk, this Court directs the first respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 12.04.2018 and pass appropriate orders as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of two (2) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 3/6

6.With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
