[Order of the Court was made by N.ANAND VENKATESH, J.] This writ petition has been filed challenging the proceedings of the second respondent made in No. 1002/ThaKu.2/2026 dated 30.03.2026 and for a direction to the respondents to grant emergency leave to the petitioner's husband, who is presently serving sentence at Central Prison,
2. Heard the learned counsel on either side.
3. The petitioner's husband is a life convict. The petitioner, who is the wife of the convict, is suffering from some medical ailments and she requires the physical and moral support of her husband. Hence, a representation was made to the respondents seeking for emergency leave.
4. The second respondent through the impugned proceedings dated 30.03.2026 rejected the representation on the ground that there is one pending case against the convict. Aggrieved by the same, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court.
5. The learned counsel for State of Tamil Nadu (Criminal Side) submitted that the convict has already undergone sentence of six years, three months and twenty one days and on earlier occasions, the convict was granted emergency leave thrice and ordinary leave once.

Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and the reasons for which the emergency leave has been sought for and taking note of the fact that on an earlier occasion, the convict was granted emergency leave and ordinary leave and nothing untoward had taken place, this Court is inclined to interfere with the impugned proceedings of the second respondent made in No. 1002/ThaKu.2/2026 dated 30.03.2026 and the same is hereby quashed. There shall be a direction to the second respondent to grant six days emergency leave to the convict subject to the condition that the convict will report before the fourth respondent daily at 05.00 p.m., during the entire period of emergency leave.
7. This Writ Petition (Criminal) is disposed of in the above terms.
