O R D E R
This writ petition has been filed to direct the respondents to grant permission and protection for cultural program (Adalum Padalum) scheduled to be held on 15.05.2025 between 7 pm and 11 pm at SMS Ninaivu Arangam, Ayyampalayam on the occasion of Car (Ther) and Pongal Thiruvizha of Thottakurichi Arulmigu Sree Malayamman Thirukovil, at Thottakurichi, Karur District.
2. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is one of the villagers, and the villagers are decided to celebrate the Festival of "Arulmigu Sree Malayamman Thirukovil", Karur District and they also decided to conduct a cultural programme "Adal Padal" on 15.05.2025. To that effect, they have also sent a representation seeking police protection and permission before the second respondent. The cultural programme cannot be declined by citing the reason "law and order" issue and the petitioner has also assured that they will conduct the cultural programme "Adal Padal" without any law and order issue.
3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents would submit that the petitioner sent a representation, dated Page No. 2 of 5
09.05.2025, to conduct the "Adal Padal" programme on 15.05.2025. If the petitioner undertakes to conduct the "Adal Padal" programme without any law and order issue, then it may be considered.
4. Considering the prayer sought for in the petition, the second respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's representation, dated 09.05.2025, seeking permission to conduct the cultural programme "Adal Padal" for the said Festival, within a period of three days from today (14.05.2025).
5. With the above said observations and directions, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
