O R D E R

(Order of the Court was made by G.R.SWAMINATHAN, J.) The writ petitioner alleges that the authorities are proposing to lay a road across Periyavoorani tank situated in survey No.383/1 in Pudukkudi village, Kurunthakkottai Group, Sivagangai District. In his representation dated 21.08.2017, the writ petitioner has given a suggestion that the proposed road can very well be laid on the southern extreme boundary of the tank. 2.We direct the first respondent to consider and dispose of the writ petitioner's representation in accordance with law. Till a decision is taken by the first respondent on the writ petitioner's representation, status quo prevailing as on date shall be maintained. The first respondent shall bear in mind that water bodies have to be preserved and protected. 3.With this observation and direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
