The petitioner has come forward with this Writ Petition for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus seeking a direction to the the respondents to grant permission to conduct Cricket tournament which is to be held at Oomatchikulam Play Ground (Near Sri Vari Water Production Unit), Madurai on 09.09.2017 and 10.09.2017 based on the petitioner's representation dated 05.09.2017.
2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner and his team decided to conduct Cricket Tournament on 09.09.2017 and 10.09.2017 at Oomatchikulam Play Ground (Near Sri Vari Water Production Unit), Madurai. He further submitted that the Cricket Tournament is at the village level and this is purely to promote sports. In this connection, a representation was given to the respondents on 05.09.2017, with a request to grant permission for conducting the Cricket Tournament in the above said dates. However, the respondents have not yet considered the said https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
representation and hence, the petitioner is before this Court with this Writ Petition.
3. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.
4. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submitted that the petitioner has given the representation only on 05.09.2017 and therefore the same will be considered before 08.09.2017.
5. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court is inclined to give the following direction: "The second respondent/Inspector of Police, Oomatchikulam Police Station, Madurai District, is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 05.09.2017 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law on or before 08.09.2017. If such permission is granted to the petitioner if any will subject to the usual conditions and any other reasonable restrictions that may be required by the second respondent in the interest of public and to preserve the law and order and communal harmony."
6.With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
