ORDER
This Writ petition has been filed in the nature of a mandamus seeking renewal and reissuance of passport to the petitioner by considering application in File No.MD1075345830123 dated 10.05.2023.
2. In the affidavit filed in support of the writ petition, the writ petitioner had stated that he had existing passport bearing No.KI8977410 which was issued on 01.01.2013 and expired on 31.12.2022. He then filed an application for renewal of passport. It was informed that FIR in Crime No.2 of 2021 under Section 143, 341, 269, 291 IPC, had been registered against the petitioner by the second respondent. However, the learned Special Government Pleader pointed out that further proceedings against the petitioner had been dropped since the FIR was registered during the Corona period. In this connection, G.O.No.176 dated 05.04.2022 had also been passed by the Home (Court-IV) Department, Chennai and in that G.O., the name of the petitioner is also found. 2/4
3. In view of these facts, I find there is no impediment in granting renewal of passport to the petitioner herein. The first respondent is directed to proceed further to process the application given by the petitioner and the said exercise must be completed within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
4. Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
