Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to grant permission and protection for conducting the Rekla Race (Bullock Cart Race) scheduled to be held on 12.02.2017 at 06.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m. in between Seithunganallur-Karungulam Road, Thoothukudi District as a part of the temple festival of Sri Thirumalai Nambi Swamy Temple in Seithunganallur Village, Srivaikundam Taluk, Thoothukudi District.

ORDER

[Order of the Court was made by A.SELVAM, J.] This writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to direct the respondents to give necessary permission for conducting Rekla Race on 12.02.2017 in the place mentioned in the petition, by way of issuing a writ of mandamus.

2.Mr.D.Muruganandam, learned Additional Government Pleader, has taken notice for the respondents.

3.It is seen from the records that on 30.01.2017 a representation has been given to the respondents and the same has not been considered.

4.Considering the aforesaid factual circumstances, this Court is inclined to pass the following order. 5.In fine, this writ petition is allowed in part without costs and the second respondent viz., Inspector of Police, Seithunganallur Police Station, Thoothukudi District is directed to look into the representation dated 30.01.2017 and dispose of the same within a period of two days.
