This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 10.03.2026 and consequently disburse all service and terminal benefits payable on account of the death of the petitioner's husband, Late Neelamegam (Employee No.20121/13CR3201), including salary arrears, death-cum-retirement benefits, pensionary benefits, insurance amounts and all other eligible monetary benefits, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.
2. This matter came up for consideration before this Court on 29.04.2026 and was adjourned to enable Mr.K.Ramaiah, learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents, for getting instructions in the matter.
3. Today, when the matter is taken up for further consideration, Mr.K.Ramaiah, learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents, Page No. 2 of 5
submitted that the petitioner has not furnished all the requisite documents for the release of the terminal benefits payable on account of the death of her husband and that the claim could not be processed by the respondents solely for want of such documents.
4. He further submitted that if the petitioner furnishes all the requisite documents, the claim would be processed by the respondents in accordance with law and the eligible benefits would be disbursed to the persons entitled thereto.
5. This Court has perused the entire materials available on record and is convinced that the respondents cannot consider the claim of the petitioner for the release of the terminal benefits of her deceased husband solely on the basis of the said representation.
6. Therefore, this Writ Petition is disposed of by permitting the petitioner to submit all the requisite documents in the prescribed format for the release of the terminal benefits payable on account of the death of her husband, Late Neelamegam (Employee No.20121/13CR3201). Upon submission of such documents, the respondents shall consider the same and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law as expeditiously as Page No. 3 of 5
possible, at any rate, within a period of eight weeks from the date of submission of the necessary documents by the petitioner.
