Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 and 2 to grant scholarship to the Petitioner's son under Sports Development Authority of development Scholarship Scheme for the academic year 2016-17 by considering the Petitioner's son's application dated 26.11.2016. ORDER

The Petitioner has come up with the present Writ Petition seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 and 2 to grant scholarship to the Petitioner's son under Sports Development Authority of development Scholarship Scheme for the academic year 2016-17 by considering the Petitioner's son's application dated 26.11.2016.

2.Mr.A.Muthukaruppan, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice for the respondents 1 to 5.

3.By consent of both parties, the main Writ Petition is taken up for disposal, at the admission stage itself. 4.The petitioner would claim that he is an agricultural coolie. His son Master Sriram is studying in 10th standard in Cheran Matriculation School, Karur.

5.The Petitioner would further state that his son is interested in learning Silambam from his childhood and he has also participated in national level and international level competitions and he also received so many medals including gold medal.

6.The Petitioner would state that as per G.O.Ms.No.30, dated 16.6.2015, his son is eligible for scholarship. But he was not given the same. Hence he gave representation to the respondents 1 and 2 on 26.11.2016. Since no action was forthcoming from the respondents 1 and 2, the Petitioner has come up with the present Writ Petition.

7.Considering the submission made by the learned counsel for the Petitioner, without going into the merits of the case, this Court directs the respondents 1 and 2 to consider the representation of the Petitioner, dated 26.11.2016 on merits and in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders on the same, after giving notice to the Petitioner and other interest parties, if any, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order 8.With the above direction, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed. No costs.
