O R D E R

(Order of the Court was made by S.S.SUNDAR.J.,) This Writ Petition is filed by the petitioner challenging the order passed by the fourth respondent, dated 26.06.2022, in and by which, the fourth respondent refused to grant permission to the petitioner to conduct Vada Manju Virattu event, which is scheduled to be held on 15.07.2022.

2. Heard Mr.B.Vinothkumar, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.S.P.Maharajan, learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents.

3. It is the case of the petitioner that the petitioner is living in Pallapatti village and the villagers have organized to conduct Vada Manju Virattu on 15.07.2022. In this regard, the petitioner has made a representation before the fourth respondent seeking permission to conduct Vada Manju Virattu. However, the fourth respondent has rejected the representation on the 2/5

ground that the petitioner has not obtained permission from the District Collector.

4. This Court in similar circumstances, upheld the order of the District Collector, refusing to grant permission to organize any programme like Maju Virattu or Jallikattu beyond the month of May of a year.

5. As per Section 3(2)(i) of Tamil Nadu Regulation of Jallikattu Act, 2009, the District Collector, is bound to reject any application to conduct the programme beyond the month of May as permission under Section 3(2)(i) of the Act, can be granted only during the months from January to May of a year.

6. Therefore, this Court is unable to find any merit in this writ petition. Hence, this writ petition is dismissed. However, it is open to the petitioner to approach the Government, if they want exemption for special reasons. No costs.
