Respondents PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to conduct the Peace Committee Meeting in the Vallalapatti Villagers in the meantime to allow all village people to participate in the Sri Muniyandi Temple festival peacefully dated 01.10.2017, based on the representation, dated 20.09.2017.

O R D E R

*********** [Order of the Court was made by K.K.SASIDHARAN, J.] The petitioner filed this Writ Petition to direct the District Administration to convene a Peace Committee Meeting in connection with the festival of Sri Muniyandi Temple, Vallalapatti Village, Melur Taluk, Madurai.

2. The learned Additional Government Pleader, on instructions, submitted that the Inspector of Police, Melur Police Station, vide letter dated 21.09.2017, requested the Tahsildar, Melur, Madurai, to convene a Peace Committee Meeting. The meeting would be conducted on 24.09.2017. The learned Additional Government Pleader further submitted that the Police and the Revenue Administration would see that there would be a perfect peace during the time of the temple festival.

3. In view of the action taken by the police concerned and the Tahsildar, no further adjudication is necessary in this Writ Petition. We hope and trust that the Tahsildar would convene a Peace Committee Meeting and try his level best to resolve the issue once for all.

4. The Writ Petition is disposed of, with the above observation. No costs.
