O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent Nos.1 to 5 to convene Peace Committee Meeting before granting any permission in respect of the proposed temple Kumbabishekam festival in the Arulmigu Nannmai Tharum Muthumarryamman Thirukovil in S.No.278 Vengallur, Devakottai Taluk, Sivagangai District and consequently, direct the respondent No.5 to forbear the respondent Nos.6 and 7 from replacing 2/6

the goddess idle in the Arulmigu Nannmai Tharum Muthumarryamman Thirukovil by considering the petitioner representation, dated 27.05.2023.

2. Today, when the matter was taken up for hearing, learned Additional Public Prosecutor would submit that as per the direction of this Court, Peace Committee Meeting was convened in which most of the villagers participated, they agreed to use the new deity, whereas this petitioner objected and stated that only old deity must be taken to the sanctum.

3. The grievance of the petitioner is that even though he participated in the above said Peace Committee Meeting, without hearing him the Peace Committee Meeting was concluded. Apart from that he has also submitted that only six persons from the "B" party appeared and not entire villagers. Whatever may be, most of the villagers not adopting the above said resolution, the petitioner being a single person should not make any trouble to the celebration of Kumbabishekam.

4. In view of the said submission, the petitioner may also 3/6

participate in the Kumbabishekam and he should not be prevented by any of the persons from participation.

5. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
