This Writ petition is filed for issuing a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to grant permission and protection for peaceful conduct of the Purattasi Pongal Festival of Arulmigu Manthayamman Kovil, Poosari Kosavapatti, Kodikulam Post, Usilampatti Taluk, Madurai District scheduled to be held from 10.10.2017 to 12.10.2017.
2.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent.
3.This Court by order dated 04.10.2017, directed the Additional Government Pleader, to instruct the respondents, to conduct a Peace Committee Meeting on or before 08.10.2017 and report before this Court. Today when the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Government Pleader produced the resolution passed in the Peace Committee Meeting, held on 06.10.2017 at 10.15 am.

4.From the resolution, passed in the Peace Committee Meeting, it can be seen that the petitioner group has agreed to conduct the Purattisi Month Festival during the third week of Tamil month of Purattasi and that the persons, who are worshipers of Seelaikariamman temple can conduct the Purattisi Month Festival during the fourth week of Tamil month of Purattasi. It was further agreed by both groups that they will not interfere with the conduct of festival by the other group as it was suggested. Even, in the Peace Committee Meeting, the petitioner's group has agreed to conduct the festival during the third week of Tamil month of Purattasi and that the other group has no objection for conducting the festival from 10.10.2017 to 12.10.2017, as it was scheduled by the petitioner's groups, subject to the other conditions.
The respondents have no objection for granting of permission to the petitioner to conduct the Purattasi Month Festival. 5.In view of the above, this Writ Petition is allowed and the respondents are directed to grant permission to the petitioner to conduct the Purattasi Month Festival and to give adequate police protection for the peaceful conduct of the festival in Arulmigu Manthayamman Kovil situated at Poosari Kosavapatti, Kodikulam Post, Usilampatti Taluk, Madurai District, between the 10.10.2017 and 12.10.2017, subject to any reasonable restrictions or conditions that may be imposed by the respondents, so as to maintain law and order and communal harmony.
