ORDER

The petitioner seeks the expeditious disposal of a representation dated 24.12.2020 seeking maintenance under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 (Senior Citizens Act).

2. The petitioner states that she is a senior citizen. She states that she has three daughters and one son. According to the petitioner, her son has not been providing any maintenance to her after the death of her husband. Therefore, she submitted a representation dated 24.12.2020 to the second respondent seeking maintenance of Rs.25,000/- (Rupees Twenty Five Thousand only) per month in terms of the Senior Citizens Act.

3. Mr.R.Baskaran, learned counsel for the State, accepts notice on behalf of both the respondents. He submits that the second respondent may be directed to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation on merits within a reasonable time frame.

4. In view of the limited scope of the present Writ Petition, the same may be disposed of by a direction to the second respondent to conclude the proceedings relating to the https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2

W.P(MD)No.14810 of 2021 representation dated 24.12.2020 expeditiously. Needless to say, the petitioner's son, Mr.Kamalanathan, and any other person who would be affected by such decision should be heard before a decision is taken.

5. Subject to the above observations but without going into the merits of the matter, the second respondent herein is directed to consider the petitioner's representation dated 24.12.2020 and dispose of the same within a period of forty five

(45) days from the date of receipt of a copy of this order after providing a reasonable opportunity to the petitioner, Mr.Kamalanathan and any other person who would be affected by such a decision.

6. W.P.(MD).No.14810 of 2021 is disposed on these terms without any order as to costs.
