[Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.] The relief sought for in the present writ petition is to direct the respondents to recover the land belonging to Perumal Temple situated at Adiyanuthu Village, Dindigul East, Dindigul District and further, to cancel the patta if any issued.

2. The learned Special Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the respondents, on instructions, would submit that actions are initiated to resume the temple lands for cancellation of patta. He would further submit that appeal has also been preferred before the Revenue Divisional Officer concerned and the same is in progress.

3. In view of the above, the respondents are directed to expedite the matter and ensure that the temple properties are protected in the manner contemplated under the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act, 1959 and the rules framed thereunder.

4. With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. It is needless to state that the Revenue Divisional Officer shall dispose of the appeal filed by the Department as expeditiously as possible. There shall be no order as to costs.
