Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to take acute steps to prevent the "Saravana Poigai" tank from pollution and to maintain its auspiciousness of the sacred tank "Saravana Poigai" in the Thiruparankundram temple precincts.

ORDER
[Order of the Court was made by A.SELVAM, J.] This writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to direct the respondents to take appropriate steps for preventing pollution in Saravana Poigai in Thiruparankundram Temple and also for directing to maintain its auspiciousness, by way of issuing a writ of mandamus. 2.It is averred in the petition that the petitioner is a resident of Madurai Town. Further it is averred in the petition that there is a Saravana Poigai in Thiruparankundram Temple. Further it is stated in the petition that the waters in Saravana Poigai have got pollution. Under the said circumstances, the present writ petition has been filed for getting the relief sought therein.
3.Mr.D.Muruganandam, learned Additional Government Pleader, has taken notice for the respondents 1 to 4. Mr.P.Gunaseelan Muthaiah, learned counsel, has taken notice for the fifth respondent. Mr.S.Manohar, learned counsel, has taken notice for the sixth respondent.
4.The main gravamen expressed on the side of the petitioner is that the waters stagnating in Saravana Poigai, Thiruparankundram Temple have become polluted for so many reasons. Under the said circumstances for giving necessary direction, the present writ petition has been filed.
5.Considering the nature of the relief sought in the writ petition, this Court is inclined to pass the following order. 6.In fine, this writ petition is allowed in part without costs and the respondents are strictly directed to take effective steps to prevent pollution to waters of Saravana Poigai, Thiruparankundram Temple.
