Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 20.07.2017 and direct the respondent to issue the deposit amount Rs.24,31,182/- interest, which was deposited by the petitioner and the total amount of Rs.24,31,182/- calculated with 8% in the name and style of M.Ambalavanan First Class Contractor contract Licences No. Ma.Po.4/23020/14 in registered No.60 for the public work for the period of 2008 to 2018.

O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed, seeking a direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 20.07.2017 for release of the deposit amount. 2.Heard the learned counsel on either side.

3. It is the case of the petitioner that he is the First Class Contractor and has undertaken several contracts in respect of construction of several Government buildings and Road in and around Madurai Corporation area. The work entrusted to him was properly completed within the stipulated time, pursuant to which, he submitted several representations, the last one of which was dated 20.07.2017, for release of the deposit amount. Since the said representation did not evoke any response, the petitioner is before this Court with the above prayer.

4. At this juncture, the learned counsel appearing for the respondent would submit that the representation of the petitioner will be considered and suitable orders passed in a time bound manner.

5. Considering the limited scope of the relief sought for, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 20.07.2017 and pass appropriate orders thereon with regard to refund of the deposit amount, on merits and in accordance with law as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
