ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to quash FIR in Crime No.36 of 2021 on the file of the first respondent herein as against the petitioner herein.

2.The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner and the second respondent are husband and wife. After marriage, the petitioner herein harassed the second respondent by demanding additional dowry. Hence, the second respondent preferred a complaint, based on which, the first respondent Police registered a case in Cr.No.36 of 2021 for the offence punishable under Sections 294(b), 323, 406, 498-A IPC, Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 2002 and Section 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. Challenging the same, the present petition has been filed.

3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that this Court may direct the first respondent to complete the investigation in Cr.No.36 of 2021 within a time frame and also permit the petitioner to produce necessary documents before the Investigating Officer in order to disprove the prosecution case.

4.In view of the fair request made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, this Court directs the first respondent Police to conduct investigation in Cr.No.36 of 2021 and complete the same, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, by providing necessary opportunity to the petitioner. The petitioner is at liberty to produce necessary documents before the Investigating Officer in order to disprove the prosecution case. Accordingly, this criminal original petition is disposed of. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
