[Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.] The writ petition is filed seeking a direction to the respondents 1 to 5 to take appropriate action for the illegal mining of sand in Vellore Tank and further restrain the respondents 6 to 9, his men or agents 2/5

or any person from illegally mining of sand in Vellore Tank situated in S.No.542/A/1, Vellur Village, Srivaikunadam Taluk, Thoothukudi District.

2. The learned Government Pleader, on instructions, would submit that the illegal mining of sand from the tank has been stopped.

3. Recording the said submission, this writ petition is disposed of. If at all such illegal quarrying operations are identified or informations/complaints are received, the competent authority is bound to register the case and prosecute the offenders in the manner known to law. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
