Prayer : Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, to direct the 2nd respondent herein to provide adequate police protection to the life and limb of the petitioners and their family members on the basis of the representation given by the them on 24/6/2024.

The petitioners with a grievance that the respondent Private Bank officials are creating problem by demanding money from the petitioners towards arrears of loan, which was obtained by one Rajalakshmi, who is the head of their Self Help Group. Therefore, the petitioners have lodged a complaint before the respondent police on 24.06.2024 and also filed this application on 24.06.2024 on the same day, seeking police protection.

2.Mr.P. Kottaichamy, learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) submits that they have received the complaint, dated 24.06.2024 only on 25.06.2024, which was sent through post. Soon after lodging the complaint, the petitioner has filed this application seeking police protection. On verification, the learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) submits that the petitioners are the members of a self help group. They have borrowed money from the private banks and failed to repay the same. Now the petitioners claim that the bank officials are harassing the petitioners to repay the amount. 3.Considering the manner, in which the complaint has been lodged through post on 24.06.2024 and this application is filed on the very same day, seeking police protection without any basis, this petition is dismissed with a cost of Rs.2000/-, which has to be paid by the petitioners to the respondent police and the same shall be used by the respondent police for the welfare activities of the concerned police station.
