Common Prayer: Writ Petitions filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 2nd respondent to carry out the mutation in the Taluk and village accounts and give patta number for punja land in S.No.407/3 to an extent of 0.40.0 Ares (1 acre) situated at Kavanoor village, Karungudi Group, Thiruvadanai Taluk, Ramanathapuram District as per the order of assignment by the Assistant Commissioner, Land Reforms, Madurai in his proceedings dated 24.07.2014 within a time frame that may be fixed by this Hon'ble Court.

Advocate ***** C O M M O N O R D E R These writ petitions have been filed, seeking a direction to the 2nd respondent to carry out the mutation in the Taluk and village accounts and give patta number for punja land in

S.No.407/3 to an extent of 0.40.0 Ares (1 acre) situated at Kavanoor village, Karungudi Group, Thiruvadanai Taluk, Ramanathapuram District as per the order of assignment by the Assistant Commissioner, Land Reforms, Madurai in his proceedings dated 24.07.2014.

2. Mr.J.Gunaseelan Muthiah, the learned Government Advocate takes notice for the respondents. By consent, these writ petitions are taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

3. The case of the petitioners is that they were sanctioned assignment of a land in S.No.407/3 by the Assistant Commissioner, Land Recorms, Madurai, pursuant to which, they sent a representation dated 31.07.2017 to the respondents for issuance of a patta by way of mutation of records in their favour. Since there was no response on the said representation, the petitioners are before this Court with the above direction.

4. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents would submit that if a reasonable time is granted to the respondents, the representation of the petitioner will be considered and suitable orders passed in a time bound manner.

5. In view of the above submission, this Court, without going into the merits of the matter, directs the respondents, more particularly the 2nd respondent to consider the representation submitted by the petitioners dated 31.07.2017 for mutation of records and pass necessary orders thereon on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioners and other interested parties, if any.

6. With the above direction, these petitions are disposed of. No costs.
