Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 23.06.2017 and to pass appropriate order upon the above representation for extending the lease period of the petitioner for another one year 01.07.2017 to 30.06.2018 by adjusting the last year lease amount for the next lease year amount for doing fishing harvesting in Malaivetti Kulam Kanmoi, situating in Narasingampatti Village, Melur Taluk, Madurai District, within the time limit that may be stipulated by this Court. ORDER

By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

2.According to the petitioner, he is the successful bidder in the tender for fishing, in respect of the tank in question, for the lease period from 2014 to 2017. Pointing out that he suffered a huge loss during the said period due to failure of rainfall, he sent a representation on 23.06.2017 to the respondents requesting to extend the lease period. Since his request is kept pending without consideration, the petitioner is before this Court. 3.The learned Special Government Pleader submitted that the petitioner's representation would be considered on merits within the time stipulated by this Court.

4.Considering the limited scope of the relief sought in this writ petition, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the respondent to consider the representation dated 23.06.2017 and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, after affording due opportunity of hearing to the petitioner as well as to the interested parties, if any, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
