O R D E R

[Order of the Court was made by A.D.JAGADISH CHANDIRA, J.] The petitioner has filed this habeas corpus petition seeking a direction to the respondents to secure his daughter, namely, Murugambal, aged about 27 years, produce her before this Court and set her at liberty.

2. It is the case of the petitioner that on 04.06.2024, his daughter Murugambal went to Typewriting Institute, however, she did not return back. Since she was not traceable, the petitioner had given a complaint before the second respondent - Police on 06.06.2024. The second respondent - Police, after registering a case in Crime No.270 of 2024, did not take any further action. However, they informed the petitioner that the CCTV photograph taken at the Tollgate through CCTV Camera discloses that his daughter had gone along with a person in a car bearing registration No.TN47 AU3087. However, the respondent - Police had not taken further steps to secure the missing girl. Hence, the petitioner has filed the present habeas corpus petition.

3. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that the petitioner is the father of the alleged missing girl. He had initially given a complaint before Karur Town Police Station on 05.06.2024 and based on the said complaint, a case in Crime No.386 of 2024 came to be registered on 05.06.2024 under the caption "Woman Missing". The petitioner had also preferred another complaint before the second respondent - Police and pursuant to the same, a case in Crime No. 270 of 2024 was registered for "Girl Missing". He would further submit that during the course of investigation, it came to light that the petitioner's daughter had eloped with one Sukumar, who is a married man and based on the complaint given by the said Sukumar's wife, by name, Gayathri, a case in Crime No.

250 of 2024 has been registered by Velliyanai Police under the caption "Man Missing". Now, both the alleged missing girl and Sukumar are hiding themselves. The respondent - Police are continuing with the investigation and as and when the detenue is secured or her whereabouts is located, the same will be intimated to the petitioner.

In view of the above submission of the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, this habeas corpus petition is closed with a direction to the respondent - Police to continue with the investigation in accordance with law and as and when the detenue is secured or her whereabouts is identified, the same shall be intimated to the petitioner forthwith.
