PRAYER :- For Bail in Crime No.7 of 2022 on the file of the Respondent Police. ORDER : The Court made the following order :- The respondent police registered a case as against this petitioner in Crime No.7 1/3

of 2022 for the offence under Section 7 @ 7(a) of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 and remanded him into judicial custody on 19.06.2024. Therefore, the petitioner has filed this petition seeking bail.

2. The case of the prosecution is that on 18.06.2024, while the petitioner was working as Bill Clerk in the Office of the TNCSC, Madurai, has demanded and accepted an undue amount of Rs.16,620/- from the defacto complainant for making arrangements to issue bill in the name of his wife for the procured 277 canny bags of paddy from the complainant and for processing to disburse the billed amount to the complainant. Hence, the case.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is an innocent person and he has not committed any offence as alleged by the prosecution. However, he is languishing in jail from 19.06.2024. Therefore, he prays for grant of bail.

4. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent submits that the investigation is in the preliminary stage. 2/3

5. Considering the nature of offence and the investigation is in preliminary stage and not yet completed, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.
