O R D E R

The petitioner has come forward with the present Writ Petition for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st respondent to consider and dispose the mercy petition within a stipulated time which was filed by the petitioner on 14.05.2018.

2. Mr.K.Mu.Muthu, the learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice for the respondents.

3. Pursuant to the orders of this Court, dated 18.01.2018 in W.P.(MD)No.21350 of 2017, the petitioner's mercy petition against the punishment of postponement of increment for a period of one year without cumulative effect was considered and rejected by the Director General of Police, Chennai. that he has filed another mercy petition before the Government on 14.05.2018 and the same may be directed to be considered.

4. In the absence of any Rules, there is no need for the Authorities to consider the mercy petition. Hence, this Court is not inclined to grant the relief to the petitioner and if the petitioner is aggrieved by the final order, to be passed by confirming the punishment of stoppage of increment, it is open to him to question the same by filing one more writ petition, if he is so advised. The Writ Petition is dismissed accordingly. No costs.
