PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the Respondents No.1 to 3 to provide adequate police protection for the Vellalore Nadu Ealaikatha Amman Kovil festival from 10.09.2018 to 26.09.2018 in Melur Taluk, Madurai District by considering the petitioner's representation dated 18.08.2018.

O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed for a direction to the respondent police to give police protection for the temple festival that is to be conducted from 10.09.2018 to 26.09.2018 2.It is seen from the records that already a peace committee meeting was conducted by the Tahsildar and all the parties were called during the meeting. Subsequently, based on the agreement that was arrived at by the parties, a report dated 05.04.2018 was submitted by the Tahsildar. The report itself specifically states that the manner in which the festival will have to be conducted. 3.The learned Government Advocate would submit that second and third respondents Police will grant sufficient protection for conducting the festival, if the same is conducted in accordance with the peace committee report dated 05.04.2018 submitted by the Tahsildar.

4.Recording the submission made by the learned Government Advocate, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the second and third respondents Police to provide sufficient Police protection for the temple festival to conducted from 10.09.2018 to 26.09.2018. The second and third respondents shall ensure that the festival is conducted in accordance with the agreement entered into by the parties during the peace committee meeting. The second and third respondents shall also ensure that the festival is conducted in a peaceful manner without giving any reason to law and order problem. Consequently, WMP(MD)No.16823 of 2018 is closed. There shall be no orders as to costs.
