BEFORE THE MADURAI BENCH OF MADRAS HIGH COURT DATED : 22.06.2016
CORAM
THE HONOURABLE MR.JUSTICE T.RAJA W.P(MD)No.11023 of 2016 and W.M.P(MD)Nos.8502 and 8503 of 2016 Karunagaran ... Petitioner vs.
1)The Regional Executive Director, Airports Authority of India, Southern Region, Chennai.
2)The Airport Director, Airports Authority of India, Madurai Airport, Madurai.
... Respondents Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the Respondents to conduct re-measurement of my height for the physical test of the Post of Junior Assistant (Fire Service) - NE4 in the Airport Authority of India within the time stipulated by this Hon'ble Court.
For Petitioner : Mr.R.Alagumani For Respondents : Mr.C.Godwin
ORDER
Mr.Karunagaran having participated in the selection process for the post of Junior Assistant in the respondents department, and finding his rejection on the ground that he is not having the requisite height of 167 cms, has brought this writ petition on the ground that the 1st respondent has not properly measured his height, since he has got 167 cms of height.
2.Entertaining the submission made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, this Court directed the Deputy Registrar (Judicial), to take the petitioner to the Dispensary attached to this Court along with the learned counsels for both parties, for measuring the height of the petitioner.

3.After measurement, the Deputy Registrar(Judicial) has submitted a report dated 22.06.2016 to the effect that the height of the petitioner has been measured as ''165 cms''. However, Mr.R.Alagumani, learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the arrangement made at the Dispensary with the instrument to measure the height of the petitioner is not proper, therefore, remeasurement may be done with proper measurement machine. 4.But, this Court is not inclined to accept the contention made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, for the reason that prima facie, this Court is able to see from the report of the Deputy Registrar(Judicial) that the petitioner is having only 165 cms. Hence, the measurement of height of the petitioner taken by the 1st respondent cannot be said to be incorrect, warranting interference by this Court. The report of the Deputy Registrar (Judicial) dated 22.06.2016 shall be treated as part of the record.
Accordingly, the writ petition fails and the same is dismissed. No costs. W.M.P(MD)Nos.8502 and 8503 of 2016 are closed.
