ORDER

The petitioners have filed these contempt petitions that the common order dated 25.04.2024 passed in the writ petitions filed by the petitioners in WP(MD)Nos.7960, 7971, 7984, 7111, 7962, 7961, 2176, 7964, 7979, 7980, 7956, 7958, 7112, 7968 and 7113 of 2024 and in the writ petitions filed by others, has not been complied with.

2.When these contempt petitions were taken up for hearing, the learned counsel appearing for the respondent university submitted that as against the order dated 25.04.2024 some Universities have filed writ appeals before the 3/6

Division Bench and the Division Bench has also seized of the matter by granting interim order. However the learned Senior Counsel pointed out the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, has not filed any writ appeal as against the common order dated 25.04.2024, insofar as the petitioners are concerned. 3.Considering this submission, this court by order dated 30.01.2026 directed the learned counsel for the respondent to ascertain the same and to report. Now the learned counsel for the respondent submits that the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University has filed WA(MD)No.685 of 2025 and the Division Bench has granted an interim stay on 20.03.2025 and he further submits as against the petitioners also the respondent has filed writ appeals and they are yet to be numbered.

The learned counsel also produced other orders passed by the Division Bench as against the common order dated 25.04.204 and submits that not less than seven different Division Benches have granted an order of interim stay as against the common order dated 25.04.2024. He has also produced the order dated 08.12.2025 passed by this court in ContP(MD)Nos.2230 and 2252 to 2261 of 2025, wherein this court has closed the contempt petitions as the matter is seized by the Division Bench.

4.Since the Division Bench has seized of the matter and granted an order of interim stay, no purpose would be served in keeping these contempt petitions and therefore, these contempt petitions are closed with liberty to the petitioners to work out their remedy based on the result of the writ appeals. 27.02.2026 DSK To The Registrar, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Abishekapatti, Tirunelveli -627 012.
