PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents No.1 to 7 to take appropriate action as against the respondents No.8 to 23 for having adopted the ex-communication as against the petitioners, based on their representation, dated 17.05.2025 made to the respondents No.1 to 7 by post. The petitioners have approached this Court, seeking a direction to the respondents No.1 to 7 to take appropriate action as against the respondents No.8 to 23 for having adopted ex-communication as against the petitioners, based on their representation, dated 17.05.2025.

2. Mr.F.Deepak, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice for R1 to R4. Mr.A.S.Abul Kalaam Azad, learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) takes notice for R5 to R7 and submits that there was a practice of ex-communication in Sembatti, Sundarapandian Post, Watrap Taluk, Virudhunagar and the petitioners were prevented from performing the last rites for their mother. Therefore, the petitioners have lodged a complaint before the respondent police and the respondent police has registered a criminal case as against the persons, who have prevented these petitioners from performing the last rites for their mother. 3.Since the petitioners have lodged a complaint that they have been ex-communicated by a group of people in the Village and the learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) has also confirmed the same and in this regard, a criminal case has also been registered, the Tahsildar, Watrap Taluk, Virudhunagar/the fourth respondent herein shall ensure that no such practice prevails in the Village. 4/7
4.With the above directions, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
