ORDER

Heard the learned counsel on either side.

2. The petitioner seeks issuance of passport. It appears that he was implicated in a case that is more than 10 years old. Crime No.442 of 2012 was registered against a number of people including the petitioner for the offence under Section 3(1) of TNPPDL Act. It appears that FIR was originally registered on the file of the Koodal Pudur Police Station. Due to bifurcation, the papers appear to have been transferred. The current status is not known. There is nothing on record to show that the petitioner had been charge sheeted or that he is figuring as an accused before the criminal court.

3. Taking into account all the facts and circumstances obtaining in this case, I direct the first respondent to process the petition mentioned application and issue passport to the petitioner subject to fulfilment of the usual formalities.

4. The Writ Petition is allowed. No costs.
