Heard Mr. S. Boominathan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, and Mr. M. Mahaboob Athiff, learned Government Advocate, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondents. 2.The petitioner is before this Court seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the third respondent to consider and dispose of the representation/petition dated 16.03.2026 submitted by the petitioner. 3.By the said petition, the petitioner has sought initiation and completion of proceedings under Section 23 of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, for cancellation of the settlement deeds executed by him in favour of his children. According to the petitioner, despite submission of the petition on 16.03.2026, no final orders have been passed by the third respondent. 2/6
4.It is brought to the notice of this Court that, subsequent to the filing of the present writ petition, the third respondent has issued notice to the petitioner and his son calling upon them to participate in the enquiry proceedings.
5.Mr. M. Mahaboob Athiff, learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents, on instructions, submitted that the enquiry initiated pursuant to the petitioner's representation would be concluded within such time as may be stipulated by this Court. The said submission is placed on record.
6.In view of the above submission, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's claim, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the competent authority to complete the proceedings within a time-bound manner.
7.Accordingly, the writ petition stands disposed of with a direction to the third respondent to conclude the enquiry pursuant to the petition dated 16.03.2026 and pass appropriate orders on its own merits and in 3/6
accordance with law, after issuing notice to and affording an opportunity of hearing to all necessary and affected parties. 8.The aforesaid exercise shall be completed within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 9.There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
