Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for the issue of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to consider and pass orders on the petitioner's representation dated 01.12.2017 within a time frame as may be stipulated by this Court to renew the lease in favour of the petitioner in so far as the Shop No.10 in the shopping complex, Checkkanoorani Bus Stand, Checkkanoorani is concerned. O R D E R

This petition has been filed, seeking to direct the respondent to consider and pass orders on the petitioner's representation dated 01.12.2017 to renew the lease in favour of the petitioner insofar as the Shop No.10 in the shopping complex, Checkkanoorani Bus Stand, Checkkanoorani is concerned.

2. Mr.M.Rajarajan, the learned Standing Counsel takes notice for the respondent. By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

3. The case of the petitioner is that he was allotted a Shop No.10 and the lease period expired on 09.10.2017. Therefore, he had submitted a representation dated 01.12.2017 to the respondent for renewal of the lease period in respect of the said Shop No.10. Since no action has been taken on the said representation, the petitioner is before this Court with the above prayer.

4. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent would submit that if a reasonable time is granted to the respondent, the representation of the petitioner will be considered and appropriate orders be passed.

5. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and also taking into account the limited scope of the relief sought for by the petitioner, this Court, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, directs the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 01.12.2017 in respect of renewal of lease and pass suitable orders thereon on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and other interested parties, if any.

6. With the above direction, this petition is disposed of. No costs.
