ORDER

The petitioner has filed the present Writ Petition to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 17.09.2020, given for the issuance of Identity Card from the Tamil Nadu Handlooms and Handlooms Silk Weaving Workers Welfare Board.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate, who takes notice for the respondent.

3. By consent, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

4. The case of the petitioner is that he was a handloom weaver by profession and he is also the member of the Welfare Board. In order to receive the labour pension, the petitioner surrendered his identity card issued by the respondent and the same has not been returned to him. Hence, the petitioner sent a representation dated 23.07.2020 to the respondent to issue the original identity card. Since no action has been taken by the respondent so far, the petitioner is constrained to move the present Writ Petition.

W.P(MD)No.16056 of 2020 respondent submitted that the representation of the petitioner, dated 17.09.2020 would be considered on merits and in accordance with law, within a time frame as fixed by this Court.

6. Considering the nature of the relief as sought for by the petitioner, without going into the merits of the case, the respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 17.09.2020 and if he is found eligible, pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

7. The Writ Petition stands disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
