O R D E R

[Order of the Court was made by N.ANAND VENKATESH, J.] This writ petition has been filed seeking for modification of the order passed by the third respondent in Letter No.60/Ooo.tha.2/2026 dated 23.03.2026, wherein, the third respondent while granting 21 days ordinary leave, imposed a condition that the convict will be accompanied by an escort.

2. Heard the learned counsel on either side.

3. The petitioner is the life convict, who is undergoing sentence at Special Prison for Woman, Madurai. A representation was made by the petitioner seeking for 21 days ordinary leave to the third respondent. However, the third respondent while granting 21 days ordinary leave through the proceedings dated 23.03.2026, imposed a condition that the convict will be accompanied by an escort. The petitioner has sought for the modification of the said condition.

4. Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and considering the reason for which the ordinary leave has been sought for, this Court is inclined to modify the condition imposed by the third respondent to the effect that the petitioner will report before the Inspector of Police, SIPCOT Police Station, Thoothukudi, daily at 10.30 a.m., during the entire period of ordinary leave. Apart from that condition, the convict is permitted to submit the sureties before the Superintendent of Prison, Special Prison for Women, Madurai, instead of executing the sureties before the Tahsildar and two sureties shall be the family members of the

convict. The other conditions imposed by the third respondent shall stand as it is.
