ORDER
[Order of the Court was made by M.M.SUNDRESH,J.] This Public Interest Litigation has been initiated by the Registry, after seeing the newspaper report in the Hindu, dated 03.09.2018. The report has suggested whether the students did not get text books, though the quarterly examination is near. Accordingly, by a suo motu action, the report has been taken as a Public Interest Litigation.
2. The learned Additional Advocate General appearing for the respondents would submit that insofar as the Standards 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 to 12 and 12 are concerned, all the books have been supplied on 25.04.2018 and 15.03.2018. However, insofar as the 11th standard is concerned, though books have been supplied for the languages Tamil, English, Kannada, Arabic, Malayalam and Telugu, for the languages French, German, Hindi and Sanscrit, they are yet to be supplied. The books for these languages will be supplied on or before 15.09.2018.
3. The statement made by the learned Additional Advocate General has been recorded. Accordingly, the respondents are directed to see to it, the language books for the 11th standard in the language of French, German, Hindi and Sanscrit to be supplied on or before 15.09.2018. We further direct the respondents to take appropriate steps to supply all the text books to the students studying in respective classes at least within one month from starting the classses.
4. We believe that though soft copies are available, it would be difficult for the students to study based upon them unless the hard copies are furnished in time. We hope and trust, the respondents would comply with the above order in order to avoid any inconvenience to the students in future. The writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
