ORDER

[Order of the Court was made by R.SURESH KUMAR, J.] The prayer sought for in this Writ Petition is to direct the respondents to ensure that each Government Schools in Madurai District and other Districts of Southern Tamil Nadu are organizing the annual day event, sports day and field trip in every academic year and consequently, to direct the respondents to disburse adequate amount of funds to all Government Schools in Madurai District and other Districts of Southern Tamil Nadu for organizing annual day event, sports day, field trip and other cultural programmes in accordance with law, within the time stipulated by this Court.

2.In order to conduct annual day celebrations in Government Schools, funds have to be provided to all the Government Schools, is the prayer sought for in this Writ Petition. However, the petitioner himself has annexed the proceedings issued in this regard by the 2nd respondent dated 31.01.2024, under which, funds have been allotted by the Government to the extent of Rs.14,93,97,000/- (Rupees Fourteen Crores Ninety Three Lakhs and Ninety Seven Thousand Only) for conducting such kind of functions for the academic year 2023-2024. 3.

Relying upon the said proceedings issued by the 2nd respondent, the learned Government Pleader for the respondents would submit that the said funds, depending upon the pupil strength, have already been disbursed and those functions were conducted before March, 2024 in various Government Schools throughout the State. Insofar as the current academic year ie., 2024-2025 is concerned, similarly, funds would be allotted and it would be disbursed at the end of this year 2024 or at the beginning of the year 2025. 4.Having regard to the said submissions made by the learned Government Pleader and taking note of the proceedings already issued by the 2nd respondent, dated 31.01.

dispose of this Writ Petition with an observation that the gestures shown by the Government for allotting the funds to the Government Schools to conduct these kind of functions, like, Annual Day, Sports Day can be continued and whatever it is possible to enhance the amount, it is open to the respondents to consider that aspect and pass suitable orders in the coming academic years, including 2024-2025.

5.With the above observation, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
