O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed for directing the respondents 1 to 8 to give necessary police protection to celebrate Pongal festival at Arulmighu Manthai Vellimalayandi Swamy, Sampiranipatti Village, Melur Taluk, Madurai District on 15.01.2018. 2.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner wants to celebrate pongal festival in the aforesaid temple on 15.01.2018 and for that, the ninth respondent is raising objection. Hence, the petitioner submitted an application to the respondents on 12.12.2017. But sofar, the said application has not been disposed of. Hence, he approached this court. 3.

The learned counsel appearing for the 9th respondent opposed to give any direction to the respondents 1 to 8 to consider the representation given by the petitioner by saying that the 9th respondent is also having preferential right in the said temple. 4.The learned Additional Government Pleader submitted that the respondents 1 to 8 are ready to consider the representations of both parties and dispose of the representation given by the petitioner. 5.Considering the aforesaid submissions, the fifth respondent/Deputy Superintendent of Police, Melur, Madurai District is directed to call the petitioner and the 9th respondent and conduct enquiry with regard to the rival claims and pass appropriate orders on or before 10.01.2018.

6.With the above observation, this writ petition is closed. No costs.
